Joaquín Torres denounces his own brother for stealing from his parents

Joaquín Torres has launched serious accusations against his brother Julio. The well-known architect has denounced that his brother has committed significant economic damage against his own parents, who would have ended up in a situation of destitution after embezzling his assets.

The death of Joaquina Verez Vivanco, mother of Joaquín and Julio, on March 2, after a prolonged illness, has brought to public light an internal struggle over the family assets that had been brewing in secret for some time.

Joaquín and his other two siblings, Mayte and Andrés, have taken legal action against Julio, who, according to them, fraudulently managed the family businesses, leading them to accumulate significant debts.

Through a statement, the Torres brothers have expressed their pain and their desire to regain control of their assets and clear their family's name: "The Torres Verez family has filed a series of lawsuits whose objective is to regain control of the companies and family assets destroyed by Julio Torres Verez".

The statement has also revealed Julio's attempts to worsen the situation, including efforts to incriminate his parents in crimes that he himself would have committed. "This is consummated in a complaint filed in the Court of Instruction No. 28 of Madrid (prior proceedings abbreviated procedure 111/2022) against our parents. In this complaint Julio Torres directly attacks our parents and formally requests prison for both," they state in the release.

The architect has detailed that, under Julio's administration, his parents went from being one of the richest families in Spain, with assets valued at 41 million euros, to facing embargoes and a total lack of resources. Since then, Joaquín has been in charge of supporting his parents financially, covering basic expenses such as health insurance.

The deterioration of the situation has deeply affected the family, and Joaquín has indicated that his mother died without wanting to see Julio again, consumed by pain and betrayal. Furthermore, the patriarch of the family, 88 years old and ill, is distraught by the betrayal of a son in whom he had placed all his trust.
