The last few months have not been easy for Jeremy Renne, who suffered a spectacular accident, crushed by a snowplow while trying to rescue his nephew. He was entombed by the machine, with thirty broken bones and bedridden. However, with patience and arduous recovery, he is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He has already managed to walk, albeit with the help of an anti-gravity machine that means that the protagonist of Hawkeye only has to use a small percentage of his body weight.
After recovering some mobility, the actor has decided to give his first interview to the media, in which Renne tells how he remembers that tragic day.
In a preview of her conversation with ABC News, Renne says she "remembers every moment of the accident" and also the pain she felt at that moment. He and his nephew were cleaning the snowplow, when suddenly the machine began to slide across the surface of the ground, which led the actor to come out of it to save the life of his relative, who was in front of the vehicle.
His nephew got away unscathed, but he didn't. He was buried for 13 minutes by the snowplow and ended up with thirty broken bones. "He chose to survive," he asserts. In these months, he has undergone several operations and he has had to face a tough rehabilitation.
In the ABC News trailer, his nephew recalls that "there was a pool of blood around his head" and that he ran to him when he saw it. He thought that he had not survived.
Renne doesn't regret what she did for her nephew. "I would do it again," she replies to journalist Diane Sawyer. When she hears the call that he himself made to emergencies, the actor is clear: "This is the sound of someone dying."
The Avengers star can't help but get emotional when asked about his family. In the preview, images of various members are seen taking care of him in the most delicate moments and he breaks down in tears when Sawyer reminds him of a fact of the accident: "In sign language, you said to your family: 'I'm sorry'". Renner continues to recover from his injuries after leaving the hospital a few weeks ago, according to what he himself has published on his social networks. Every day, the protagonist of Hawkeye performs a hard routine to leave the wheelchair in which he is moving right now.
Little by little, he is getting it, as can be seen in one of his Instagram stories. There, he is seen inside an anti-gravity machine that allows the actor to walk again using only a small percentage of his body weight.
He hopes to overcome his situation as soon as possible, although he does not know when he will be able to return to work. For now, he is content to follow the second season of the series he stars in, The Boss of Kingstown, from home.
