Inmaculada Casal's request after Antonio Tejado's statement: "I have no other choice"

For the second consecutive week, journalist Inmaculada Casal was forced to begin her program by talking about the uncomfortable personal situation that both she and her wife, María del Monte, are experiencing since the arrest of her nephew, Antonio Tejado, for his alleged involvement in the robbery of his house last summer.

The journalist thus began Andalusia in the afternoon by emphasizing that she had become the "involuntary protagonist" of this whole event, but as she explained last week she was not going to stop doing her job. What's more, on this occasion she surprised the spectators with a request; but not for her, but for her wife's nephew.

Just two days ago, the journalist and his wife testified before the judge to tell everything that happened that August night that still leaves them "scared in their bodies." At the beginning of the program, Casal did not hesitate and began talking about the topic once again.

"Good afternoon, another difficult week, very difficult, with all the news that has emerged in the last week in which I have seen myself as a part, as a victim," he began by saying. However, the journalist took the opportunity to make an important reflection, especially to her professional colleagues.

"You are going to allow me to tell you something. When I was 18 years old I decided to study journalism in the 80s, in that desire to change the world, my parents made the effort to send me to Madrid to study at the Complutense," he explained. , revealing that he then realized that "the world cannot be changed."

"But we can each contribute from our position to making that world a little better, a little more fair. Perhaps that is why I owe myself to that information in the courts and I tried to give it in the most serious and contrasted way," he added, regarding his statement.

"I never succumbed to sensationalism and I never profited from it. It is my opinion but I believe that journalists, because of the platform we have, can exalt or bring down a person and that deserves a lot of respect," he asked the profession.

Not only that, but he also insisted on asking for Antonio Tejado. "Today, unfortunately, I have become the protagonist without wanting it and without eating or drinking it. I am part of a process that is in court but I ask for respect for all parties," he expressed.

"Also for you. You are that loyal audience that watches us every afternoon and you know that in this program we are going to give you the most serious and contrasted information possible. So it is for you and I have no other choice than, as we say here in Andalusia, take the bull by the horns," he concluded.

Last Monday, three days after his arrest for alleged membership in an organized criminal gang dedicated to the robbery of luxury homes in the Seville area, Antonio Tejado entered provisional prison accused of being the alleged intellectual author of the robbery of the house of his aunt, María del Monte.

Since then, what is known about the state of Tejado is not very hopeful. As reported in Espejo Público, the Sevillian collapsed after testifying before the judge, even having to be treated by the medical team for anxiety attacks.

María del Monte's nephew is in the prison's respect module, with a "trusted prisoner" who remains by his side at all times. According to the latest information, Inmaculada Casal herself had asked her wife to withdraw the complaint against her nephew.

Tejado continues to maintain his innocence, but has been accused of the crimes of belonging to a criminal group, robbery with violence, intimidation, illegal detention, and receipt and trafficking of drugs. For this reason, he could face up to six years in prison.
