Good and bad news for 'Evil': it is canceled but it will have a proper ending

Evil viewers must face bittersweet news. Paramount, which produces and broadcasts the series in the United States, has decided to cancel the horror series after its fourth season. The positive side, as creators Robert and Michelle King acknowledge, is that at least they will have the opportunity to say goodbye to the work properly.

The filming of the fourth season was interrupted, according to Deadline, for reasons unrelated to the writers' strike in May: a member of the cast, for personal reasons, could not finish the recordings. And, taking into account that the actors went on strike in July, it was impossible to finish a season that had not even been planned as the last by the Kings.

Luckily, Paramount Global does not want to leave a production by two of its most critically respected regular screenwriters, the authors of The Good Wife and The Good Fight, halfway done. So, to ensure that Evil has the final touch that it deserves, they have requested four additional episodes from the Kings so that they can close the plots.

From social networks, Robert King commented on the news: “There is nothing better than finding a series that meets the needs of the genre and that allows you to explore your passions. The only thing better is finding actors who you want. So it's sad that Evil is ending, but we also want to thank Paramount for letting us do what we wanted for so long.

Evil, which should arguably be described as a horror comedy, centered on Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), a forensic psychiatrist hired by the Catholic Church to resolve whether disturbing cases are the result of supernatural forces or have a scientific explanation. . In this job that strained her beliefs, she had the help of an attractive priest, David Acosta (Mike Colter), and a technology expert, Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi).

As in The Good Wife, the Kings found a balance between the cases of the week, which moved from directly comic situations to the search for fear and anguish, to a horizontal plot marked by Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson), companion Kristen's profession but with a contrary objective: to lead humanity towards evil.

The fourth season of Evil will premiere in May. In Spain, the SyFy channel has the rights, which will also broadcast the final episodes.
