Goalkeeper Fabio Padillo dies at 31 after fighting a long illness

Andalusian football is mourning the death of Fabio Padillo, former goalkeeper for Xerez CD and Jerez Industrial, who died at the age of 31 after failing to overcome a long illness with which he had been battling since 2019.

"From the X (formerly Twitter) the Jerez team.

The Higher Sports Council (CSD) also expressed its condolences. "From the CSD we deeply regret the death of Fabio Padillo, former goalkeeper of Xerez CD and Jerez Industrial, among other teams in the city. We send our most sincere condolences and support to his family, friends and colleagues."

The footballer's problems began in 2019, when he had to undergo surgery for a brain tumor. He didn't turn out as expected. And the second operation was complicated by the lack of blood in the province.

In 2022, Padillo turned to social networks to ask for help: "I need you, and just like me, many people we don't even know. I'm awaiting surgery for a brain tumor for which I already had surgery 3 years ago. Well, no." "They can intervene in me, the blood reserve in the province of Cádiz is zero and they can't do anything other than postpone everything."

After years of struggle, the goalkeeper was unable to overcome the complications resulting from his illness and ended up dying at the age of 31.
