Fayna Bethancourt's anger with the neighbors of Carlos Navarro 'El Yoyas' for defending him: “It outrages me”

This Tuesday marked one year since a judge sentenced Carlos Navarro, better known as El Yoyas, to almost six years in prison for mistreating his ex-partner Fayna Bethancourt. Since that day, the former Big Brother contestant disappeared, fleeing, and a search and arrest warrant was issued. However, no one reveals his whereabouts.

In an interview with Fayna last night for Code 10, the former big sister was outraged with the passivity in the search for her ex-partner, as well as the defense and concealment of information carried out by some of Navarro's neighbors. Several people close to her claimed to know her whereabouts, but also did not want to collaborate in her arrest. A situation that made the victim very angry live.

“I am aware that the more time passes, the more in danger I am because everything becomes diluted. "He's going to feel more confident [...] A part of me still feels like he's going to end me," Fayna Bethancourt said on Code 10, the event program presented by Nacho Abad and David Aleman on Cuatro.

In fact, Fayna claimed that she is afraid that the crime will expire and that, when this happens, El Yoyas will show up at the door of her house boasting of his freedom to kill her. Furthermore, the Canarian woman is convinced that her ex-partner cannot remain hidden without the necessary financial means or help from those around her.

At another point in the interview, Fayna couldn't help but collapse. It happened when the program broadcast some of the audios sent by El Yoyas, in which he insults, threatens to kill, and acknowledges some of the episodes of abuse for which he was convicted.

“You think you are strong. I know I am because I have realized it over this time. And you have the feeling that there are things that are no longer going to affect me, but I hear her voice and this happens to me. But she won't be able to handle me because I have a message to send tonight and I'm going to do it,” she explained through tears and with a broken voice.

However, Fayna found strength and did not hesitate to make a public call to the authorities to review her case and do everything possible to capture Navarro. “Every minute, week and year that passes, he celebrates,” said the Canarian.

For this reason, Fayna spoke directly to the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska: “Let him listen to me and pay attention to me. Nobody gives me solutions. “No one can find Carlos Navarro Merino, convicted of gender violence.”

Because, as the guest specified, the police unit that “looks for fugitives and dangerous criminals such as drug traffickers, pedophiles and murderers,” is not dedicated to searching for “those convicted of gender violence who have fled from justice. There is no active search for these fugitives.”

“Let all women know that they are not going to actively look for their escaped abusers. “It is a passive search,” she said shortly after. In the case of El Yoyas, the search would focus on a Catalan town, close to Barcelona, where its residents have claimed before the Code 10 cameras that they have seen the fugitive and know where she resides.

Some of these neighbors have even boasted of not wanting to reveal Navarro's whereabouts. An inexplicable protection that made Fayna explode. “What outrages me is that it is so difficult to get a search warrant in that house and the surrounding ones. Because the problem here is that they are moving it. And that we have to listen to those people in that urbanization that is there and that the Police do nothing”, she blurted out, very angry.
