Diversity parades on the catwalk at 080 Barcelona Fashion

"The 080 values the fashion industry in Catalonia, and from the Generalitat we support all the professionals who make it possible", with these words Pere Aragonés inaugurated yesterday the 31st edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion. Until Friday, a total of 25 firms and designers will parade in the Sant Pau modernist venue.

Although the fashion platform is promoted by the Government, there have been very few occasions in which a president of the Generalitat has attended any of the parades in previous editions, hence the presence of Aragonés and his wife has been positively valued Janina Juli, as well as Roger Torrent, Minister of Business and Work and Agnès Russiñol, director of the Consortium of Trade, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia.

In different parliaments, the three politicians have highlighted that 080 Barcelona Fashion is a showcase for the talent and creativity of Catalan design and a reflection of the values of today's society, which is committed to sustainability and diversity and inclusion of all genders. , bodies and people. And this has been reflected in the casting of models that have paraded on the first day of the 080: more variety of sizes, races, ages and genders.

Simorra has been in charge of inaugurating the catwalk, with the presence of Aragonés in the front-row, who also visited the backstage and greeted the designers. The collection of this firm with more than 40 years for spring-summer 2023 is called In-Touch and it began with the notes of the Yesterday theme because it is like remembering the summers of our childhood through the touch of the fabrics of the garments that it presented : embroidered cottons (like the old tablecloths), macrame crafts, tweeds (like the upholstery of country houses), jacquards (like the bedspreads), guipure with geometric drawings (like the hydraulic tiles)...

Next, two emerging brands paraded: The Artelier, an explosion of color to the rhythm of live music by Subliminal, and Laretta, a collection of contrasting colours, volumes and textures inspired by life and death.

Oscar León has returned to 080 after several years of absence. He has done it in collaboration with the knitwear firm Bielo and the result is genderless garments, with a combination of colors and experimentation with patterns. "I have left my comfort zone, because what Bielo does has nothing to do with my style -explains Óscar León. But I have brought the rogue point to the collection".

The first day of the 31st edition of 080 was closed by the Escorpión firm with its autumn-winter collection, which was presented with a fragment of classical ballet such as Swan Lake, danced on the catwalk. "The collection combines modernity with tradition. We have opted for natural tones, iconic volumes highlighted with ruffles and embroidery, and oversize garments," describes Jessica Raya, one of the designers on the creative team. In the end, the model Mayka Merino walked the catwalk with a tulle skirt printed with the three phrases that summarize the almost 100-year history of the knitwear firm dedicated to dressing women: "A Scorpion sweater", "We are pure heritage", "We are all the gifts".
