Dismantling the transphobic hoax about Clara Chía: the whole truth

Much has been said about Clara Chía on social networks, and it is that Gerard Piqué's current partner has gone from being a totally anonymous woman who could walk quietly through the streets of Barcelona to becoming the one who arouses the most interest as she is the protagonist of the break between Shakira and the father of her children. A role that has the good side of her, finally being able to have a relationship publicly with his partner; but also the bad side of her, the thousands of detractors who are in charge of spreading false information about her practically daily.

The worst of all has been the one that, curiously, has given the most rounds on the networks: a conspiracy theory that claimed that Clara Chía was actually a trans woman who was born with the name of Esteban Chía Martí. A theory fed with all kinds of comments, hoaxes and misinformation; and that despite having neither head nor tail, she reached all corners of the network.

All this bizarre story began with an image that Gerard Piqué appeared with another man, in which they appear embraced and blowing a kiss at the camera. According to some of those who spread the hoax, this man would be Esteban Chía, the identity with which Clara would previously be known.

However, as explained in Maldita, it can be verified with a simple reverse search that the photograph in question was taken in 2006, and it is about Gerard Piqué with a childhood friend of his, Joan Mas, as La Vanguardia reported. identified it in 2011. At that time, Clara was only seven years old (the Catalan is now 24), so it is totally impossible that she is the young man in the photo).

Despite being able to verify that this man is not Esteban Chía, but Gerard Piqué's childhood friend, Clara's detractors continued their investigations. Another of the "evidence presented" to defend her peculiar theory was the image of a child, borrowed from an image bank, which they claimed was the "before" of the Barcelonan.

Endless "evidence" circulates through social networks, with videos that even offer edited images to "demonstrate" that the Barcelonan is actually a man. Obviously, all these images are fake.

So is the alleged video that is said to exist of 10-year-old Milan Piqué revealing that Clara Chía is a trans woman. According to this alleged recording, the little boy would have affirmed that her father would have helped her "hide that secret", even helping her financially with the necessary surgical operations. A video of which there is no trace on the Internet, nor is there any of the alleged surgeon who would have operated on "Esteban Chía" nor the alleged statements by him declaring to be the person who would have treated this man who obviously does not exist.

This is just one of the attacks that the young Barcelonan has to face daily on the networks. Since she made public her sentimental relationship with Gerard Piqué, her detractors have given her no respite, even less since she was the involuntary protagonist of the latest songs that Shakira dedicates to the father of her children.

In one of his last interviews, Piqué wanted to claim his partner's right to privacy. "You do not know what I have come to receive through social networks from people who are fans of her, but thousands of barbarities," she assured.

"We don't think about the consequences that it can have on a mental level for the people to whom you throw the beef, and it looks very good in a personal capacity, 'ohh, the bitch loves', I don't know what, but we don't think about the other person , what has to happen, that someone commits suicide?", lamented the ex blaugrana.

At the moment, it seems that peace reigns. Shakira is already in Miami with her children and her parents; and Piqué continues in Barcelona with Clara, trying to lead a normal life. If his absolute prominence in the social chronicle has passed, only time will tell.
