Chicote describes the way of cooking in the cafeteria of the Central University Hospital of Asturias as "bristle"

La Sexta premiered last Thursday the fifth episode of the fifth season of the cooking show presented by Alberto Chicote. In Are you going to eat it? the chef travels throughout our country analyzing the menus of different centers, restaurants and kitchens, showing the audience that not everything goes and that things have to change to offer a quality culinary service.

On this occasion, the Madrid presenter visited the cafeteria of HUCA, the Central University Hospital of Asturias. As soon as he arrived, he found the devastating testimony of a worker from said establishment: "I apologize to the customers, they are ashamed."

Chicote witnessed how hundreds of users of the medical center, clients, patients and even workers in the hospital cafeteria publicly denounced the lack of hygiene in the materials and cutlery used, as well as the trays where they placed the food. "You take the tray and it's always dirty, like the cutlery. Today my son ate and they changed his plate three times before they put the food on him," a woman said very indignantly.

The chef was left speechless when he discovered that the workers cooked under the orders of their superiors and that they forced them to carry out all kinds of "bad practices", such as making green sauce by squeezing lemons, chopping steaks in poor condition to "make broth" or using the oven to save oil in frying. Chicote couldn't take it anymore when he discovered that in this establishment they defrosted fish with hot water: "It's okay to take advantage of the food, but this seems to me a sow."

As for the quality of the product, it also left a lot to be desired. This is the reason why many of the customers complained endlessly and the main reason why the Google reviews were so negative. ''My father has been hospitalized for three months, we always eat here. A menu costs 8.90 (...) we had to look on Google what fish it was," denounced a woman.

To get all kinds of opinions, the culinary expert met with an emergency doctor, Jesús Maujo. He explained that the food they serve in the hospital could be "quite better," since it is of poor quality and they serve little quantity. "Here I have discovered surprising things about marine fauna (...) This goes out to contest from time to time and we will have to look for the good for everyone and not the economic," he explained to the man from Madrid.

The program dedicated to the HUCA kitchens became the most watched of the season with an average of more than 570,000 viewers. The repercussion of the episode caused a stir on social networks, since the chef visited a reference medical center where the sick and their families must be cared for with the best possible menu.

After the episode was broadcast, sources close to the Ministry of Health declared that the images were taken more than a year ago and that the concessionaire company had already been sanctioned for these unhealthy practices.
