The TV3 Marathon is one of the television events of the year in Catalonia. Since 1992, the Sant Joan Despí and Diagonal studios in Barcelona have been programming in mid-December to raise as much money as possible against diseases and disorders that affect society. Likewise, the entire territory is involved, programming special activities aimed at raising awareness among the Catalan population.
One of the most significant elements of each installment is the Disc de la Marató, a complete compilation of versions in Catalan, where emerging artists and notable names come together for a good cause. One more year, La Vanguardia will be one of the newspapers that offer the album, next Sunday, December 3, for a price of 12 euros. Those who purchase it will be able to listen to a wide repertoire in which three names related to Eurovision stand out.
Chanel, Vicco and Siderland are the Eurovision faces that will leave their mark and their voice on this year's El Disc de la Marató, with two heartfelt songs that will complement the contributions of, among others, Belén Aguilera, The Tyets, Stay Homas, Roger Padrós and the 16 contestants of the second edition of Eufòria. The SloMo performer, who came third at the 2022 Festival to the surprise and delight of many, was the visible face of the album presentation.
“When they called me I didn't think twice. It just so happens that my first album that comes out in January will be called 'Agua'. I love singing in Catalan,” declared the native of Olesa de Montserrat. The coincidence is not trivial, and it is that Chanel will perform one of the most recognized songs by Jarabe de Palo and Pau Donés, Agua. A voice that will join those of other artists, such as Antonio Orozco, who paid tribute to the late singer by covering his classic song.
For their part, Vicco and Siderland come together to give a significant twist to the viral song by the artist born in Tiana: Nochentera. A collaboration that has just rounded out the bet of the Barcelona band, after performing at the Benidorm Fest in 2023 with the first song in Catalan in the history of the event: Que Esclati Tot. Furthermore, the lyrics of this version are even more special, by including references to the theme on which this year's Marató revolves.
A day dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, so the song now says Un toc de glitter i em poso de gala, i m'agafo un condó instead of Toque de glitter, shot of absinthe and I get hot. Small modifications to emphasize the message of an event that, since its first edition, has already raised a total of approximately 240 million euros.
