The Valencia trade bonus runs out in a few hours with peaks of 200,000 simultaneous users

Yesterday's success in the launch of the València 2023 Trade Bonus website foreshadowed what ended up happening last night: the vouchers were sold out in a few hours. Cámara Valencia, which manages the initiative in collaboration with the Valencia City Council, was surprised yesterday by the success of the call, much greater than last year, despite having the same conditions. The enormous influx of traffic recorded early in the day caused a collapse that prevented its normal operation until late in the afternoon. At night, the users who were able to enter exhausted the available bonuses.

The access forecasts for the purchase of bonds managed by the Chamber were exceeded with peaks of 200,000 simultaneous users, which caused the collapse of the servers despite the fact that "measures had been taken to multiply the access capacity by three compared to the previous year's campaign," points out the cameral entity.

In fact, yesterday concurrent connections exceeded 250,000 users, compared to the maximum 30,000 registered in the previous campaign. In the intervals where there was a connection due to a drop in user flow, 4,508 bonds were sold. Yesterday at six in the afternoon, 22,999 bonds were still available out of a total of 28,700.

Yesterday the Chamber apologized "for the inconvenience caused to the affected users" and throughout the afternoon it worked to solve the technical problem and resume the purchase of the bonds as soon as possible. Among the reasons for such an avalanche of interested buyers, Cámara Valencia considers whether the entry of food stores has been a particularly striking attraction for users. There are 61 participating food establishments, including butcher shops, greengrocers and fishmongers, and in the current context of inflation, this is a value to take into account.

On the other hand, from Cámara Valencia - which this Tuesday evaluated what happened yesterday to look for solutions - they rule out that there has been a massive purchase by non-resident users in Valencia or the metropolitan area and remember that the trade voucher campaign is designed to promote the purchase in local businesses, regardless of whether the consumer resides in Paterna or Torrent. Regarding the proposal to establish a draw as proposed by Compromís, similar to the one that already works in the boxes of the Battle of Flores, Chamber sources do not rule out any option.
