UGT and CC.OO. They have presented their proposals this Thursday for the next general elections, including the gradual reduction of the working day with the aim of reaching 32 hours without a salary reduction and the reinforcement of the compensation system for unfair dismissal by increasing its amount.
The union proposals - which have been presented by the general secretaries of the CC.OO., Unai Sordo, and of the UGT, Pepe Álvarez, in an act in Valencia - also include redefining "the causes and procedures, with special mention of collective dismissal" and Maintain at least the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) at 60% of the country's net average wage.
They also propose "a comprehensive reform of the Workers' Statute that advances rights and addresses the new challenges faced by work, its organization and its regulation" and of the unemployment protection system to make it "more inclusive and extensive".
At this point, they ask to increase the amounts and duration of unemployment benefits and improve training and guidance to find a job. In pensions, they advocate ensuring revaluation in accordance with the CPI and developing partial retirement "facilitating the renewal and rejuvenation of company workforces."
Likewise, they propose developing a benefit that extends the action of the minimum vital income (IMV). In tax matters, UGT and CC.OO. they include harmonizing taxes on wealth and the fight against fraud and against the underground economy; as well as a reform of the Corporate Tax ensuring a minimum taxation of 15%.
In other matters, the unions propose negotiating a comprehensive care pact that addresses equality, the use of time, rights, responsibilities, jobs or the public nature of the services.
In housing, they propose increasing investment for the creation of a public park of affordable rental housing and maintaining regulations that promote the containment and reduction of rental prices. "CC.OO. And UGT urge all the political groups that attend the next general elections, to assume and integrate these proposals (...) and incorporate them into their electoral programs, and to implement them in Spanish society when , later, the next government is satisfied", they conclude.
