Jerez de la Frontera, in Cádiz, started its Horse Fair this weekend with a bang. The event, which brings together thousands of people in a party declared of International Tourist Interest, began this Saturday with a major scare in one of its 174 booths installed in the Real. Specifically, in the one belonging to Xerez Deportivo, where someone emptied a canister of pepper spray, causing THE stampede of those gathered there.
A dozen people had to be treated by members of the Red Cross for respiratory problems and stinging eyes, according to La Voz del Sur.
It is not the first time something similar has happened. It was at the 2019 San Fernando fair, also in Cádiz, where an individual similarly caused those gathered in a booth to leave in what was a 'joke' in bad taste that required the action of the National Police. .
The fair, which takes place in the González Hontoria Park, is one of the most anticipated festivals for Jerez residents and will last until May 11.
