Twelve new startups have joined the Barcelona Free Zone incubator, bringing the number of emerging companies installed in the complex to 42, launched by the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium (CZFB) in 2022.
Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, and its general director, Blanca Sorigué, explained this morning that the companies installed in the incubator have created 72 new jobs in this period and have attracted 361 new clients, in addition to receiving 49 recognitions.
The Logistics 4.0 Incubator is the first high-tech incubator in Spain dedicated to the logistics industry. With an area of 1,000 m2, it has so far accumulated an investment of 3 million euros, 50% co-financed between the Consorci and the Feder, with aid managed through the Chamber of Spain.
The incubator, the directors have explained, invests these funds in providing offices and computer equipment to entrepreneurs and in business and financial training and “coaching” and support for business development.
All in all, said Joaquín Poley, head of the project at the Consorci, what companies value most is “the business and industrial environment they find here, which allows them not only to find clients but also investors." Since the launch of the incubator, The companies in the area have already attracted investments worth 13.6 million euros.
Navarro has assured that the Consorci's vocation is that the ideas of the incubated companies "become a reality and new opportunities" for both the logistics sector and for society, and allow the generation of economic activity and jobs.
The new companies that have joined the Logistics 4.0 Incubator have been Actiontracker, Flexyfreight, Global Forwarders (Shipping x Shipping), HermIA, Janvi Logistics, Kepler AI Logistics, Kovix, Myappssistance, Nubfreight, Sincropool, Vaive Logistics and Wecaria Tecnologies.
In a networking day, new companies have presented their projects, which include technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and the autonomous car.
Among the proposals, platforms stand out to facilitate the export of SMEs and compare freight prices; applications to temporarily rent excess space in industrial warehouses to other companies; communication applications between companies and delivery people or autonomous delivery vehicles.
