The price of electricity rises 4.3%, to 51.76 euros

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market rose 4.3% this Thursday to stand at 51.76 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) compared to 49.58 euros yesterday Wednesday. With this, electricity adds 13 days below 100 euros per MWh.

According to the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Servimedia, the gas cap is still not applied, as it has been since February 27, as its price fell below the limit set by the Iberian exception, which in May is 57.20 euros.

The 51.76 euros per MWh represent a drop of 36.7% compared to the 81.73 euros of Thursday of last week and a drop of 46.2% over the 96.19 euros of a month ago, on the 18th of April.

In addition, in a year-on-year comparison, this Thursday there was a 73.4% reduction in price, since on May 18 of last year the price was 194.86 euros per MWh.
