The OCU reveals which are the electric cars that have dropped the most in price: you can save up to 7,000 euros

February is being a month marked by the price war between the world's main car manufacturers. Although Tesla was the pioneer in lowering the price of its electric cars to compete with China, American, Korean and European companies have not stopped adding to these balances. In fact, Kia, Volkswagen, Cupra, MG and the Chinese BYD are the companies that have reduced the sales price of their latest models between 4,000 and 7,000 euros, according to the OCU.

The consumer organization points out that, between February 1 and 15 alone, these automobile companies have made much more than symbolic discounts on their cars. Volkswagen made the most significant discount, leaving its ID3 at 34,460 euros (-€7,010), which brings it closer to its gasoline counterpart, the Volkswagen Golf (30,440 euros). This difference could be even smaller if buyers adhere to the Moves III Plan, with aid ranging between 4,500 and 7,000 euros if you scrap your old car. The discount would be double!

The price of the BYD Autto 3 was reduced by €5,410 to €34,780, a similar reduction to what Cupra has made for its Born 77kWh (€5,040 less). Next are the Kia Niro (-€4,615), the MG4 64kWh (-€4,000) and the Tesla Model Y, reduced by 3,000 euros.

The OCU has taken the example of the Volkswagen ID3 to make calculations. Even if the buyer does not request help from the Moves III Plan, in terms of consumption, it would still be cheaper to buy this model 100% than the gasoline Golf. The entity estimates the fuel consumption of the new Golf at 10,500 euros per 100,000 kilometers, but only 3,500 euros of electricity in the case of its electric counterpart, the ID3. This would mean a saving of 7,000 euros every 100,000 kilometers, which the buyer would amortize after 60,000 kilometers, that is, in two or three years. In addition, these cars can access the low-emission zones that are being implemented in Spanish cities.

Among the electric vehicles with the best relationship between price and autonomy, the OCU also highlights the Mini Cooper SE (305km and €38,400), the Citroën C3 (235km and €23,800) or the Tesla Model 3 (395km and €39,990). This data is obtained from the quotient between the estimated autonomy of the vehicle and its market price.
