The Nissan Qashqai, pioneer of SUVs, is reinvented with a lot of technology and a more modern appearance

It all started with you. A success story. A happy idea that has marked the evolution of the automobile in recent years. All of this is true and speaks to Nissan's great success when the concept was invented in 2007. Nissan was looking for a C-segment car to rival the Golf. But the initial concept ended up being a tall passenger car, with an all-terrain appearance and a high driving position that provided great visibility.

And since its launch, 3 generations of Qashqai have passed, accumulating more than 375,000 units sold in Spain, being the leader in 2024 and a reference point in the market. And to continue with this trend, the Qashqai receives an extensive aesthetic update and important technological advances that force us to talk about a new model.

Indeed, after years of dominating the European market, Nissan updates the third generation of the Qashqai that arrived in 2021. This is a very interesting, and necessary, update that once again places it in a prominent place in the segment. mid-size SUVs.

In this way, the SUV pioneer presents a much more modern image, with a first-rate technological update. Technology that affects both connectivity and driving assistance devices (ADAS).

The necessary impulse to which the brand itself refers, ensuring that “being active is essential” begins with the front of the car. We observe a radical change, with a huge grille that is integrated with the design of the headlights, which form a set with the grille and adopt a new, frankly aggressive diagonal light signature.

Also notable are the sequential turn signals and the possibility of mounting headlights with Matrix LED technology, which will be optional depending on the versions. The rear lights also have their personality, with a lower part with an original 3D design.

The interior change is not, perhaps, so radical, but Nissan assures that the effort has been great to provide it with new materials such as the Alcantara fabric on the dashboard. In any case, finish and materials improve the user's perception. And one of the new features is the incorporation of new ambient lighting with 64 colors to personalize the atmosphere of the cabin.

Another important novelty, and a first for Nissan, is that Google's connected services are incorporated into the multimedia system. Google Maps is included as standard and, once registered with a personal Google account, drivers can access their favorite locations and points of interest. This reduces dependence on a smartphone. Updates are done automatically and ensure that map information is always up-to-date.

All Google applications can be installed directly in the car and, therefore, be operational without having to have them on our phone. In addition, Google Assistant allows you to use your voice for hands-free help while driving. With this assistant you can control navigation, information, audio and climate control intuitively.

Drivers also have access to an ecosystem of apps that are available for download on Google Play. They can listen to their favorite music, podcasts and audiobooks right from their vehicle.

Starting next July 7, the community regulations that require manufacturers to incorporate 8 Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) come into force, mandatory in all vehicles sold in the EU. Thus, Nissan has revised the autonomous emergency braking functions to improve its risk detection and react more quickly in the event of a possible collision. Or the emergency lane keeping system that is now activated automatically when the car is started.

The Intelligent Speed Assist system has also been updated, which helps the driver adapt the car's speed to the current speed limit using both a camera to read speed limit traffic signs on the road and GPS data.

And, as a novelty, the new Qashqai will have a simple and personalized driver assistance mode, which allows you to quickly adjust the precise level of intervention of the different assistance technologies according to your preferences.

Nissan has redesigned the range of wheels, with a new design on the 18, 19 and 20-inch wheels. And there are three new exterior colors: Kori White (pearl white), Ninja Black (pearl black) and Deep Ocean (between dark blue and metallic green). Some colors can be combined with the black roof to create a different look.

On the other hand, there is a new finish within the range; the N-Design. Created to attract Qashqai customers who want a more daring version with a unique aesthetic. On the outside, the entire bodywork is the same color, increasing its sportiness. In addition, it has new exclusive 20” two-tone alloy wheels that provide greater presence on the road.

There are no changes in the engine range, which has e-Power hybrid technology as its main argument. Thus, the 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, plus another electric engine, produces a total power of 190 HP. There are also two light hybrid gasoline variants, with 140 and 158 hp. All engines carry the ECO label.
