The most spectacular cars of the Munich motor show

Open to the public until September 10, the Munich motor show is being a technological showcase of what is to come in the coming years.

World capital of the sector for a few days, IAA Mobility 2023 combines spectacular presentations at the exhibition center with manufacturer exhibition spaces in the urban center of the city.

BMW takes advantage of the Munich event to showcase its capacity for innovation in the fields of electrification, digitalization and circularity. A way to “stay two steps ahead of the future”, says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of BMW AG.

The new BMW Vision Neue Klasse embodies the mobility of the next decade, although it will be a reality already in 2025. A new era of cars with a design language with expansive surfaces, reduced to the essentials.

With an interior that guarantees a unique digital experience with the fusion of the real world with the virtual one. And a new generation of BMW eDrive electric motors with 30% more autonomy, 30% more fast charging and 25% more efficiency.

One of the impressive cars in Munich is undoubtedly the Cupra DarkRebel, a prototype that the Martorell brand designed as a virtual creation for the metaverse and about which we have now learned more details.

Thus, the DarkRebel is already a real car, a fully electric car and, according to Cupra, “the maximum provocation of Cupra design. Thus, it is a car 4.5 meters long, with vertically opening doors.

Cupra, which has sold more than 150,000 cars in 2023, is preparing its landing in the North American market as part of its globalization strategy.

The DarkRebel also brings new ideas in the way of conceiving a car. Thus, more than 270,000 Cupra Tribe configurations, including those from brand ambassadors such as Marc ter Stegen, Alexia Putellas and Daniel Brühl, helped define the physical version on display in Munich.

This spectacular reinterpretation of the legendary 1969 C 111, known as the Mercedes Wankel, combines a highly dynamic design language with innovative all-electric powertrain technology.

Its technical highlights include the extremely powerful and highly efficient axial flux motor developed by electric motor specialist YASA. The British company is since July 2021 a 100% subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG.

The silhouette of the super sports car is characterized by the skilful execution of the characteristic Mercedes-Benz One-Bow design, a true benchmark of 21st century style.

Porsche celebrates its 75 years of existence with an extraordinary exercise in style that lays the foundations for the sports cars of the future. The Mission X is a spectacular reinterpretation of a hypercar, with doors that open up and forward and a high-performance, efficient electric powertrain.

With the Mission X, the German brand picks up the witness of other iconic sports cars from past decades that are already part of the valuable historical legacy of the Stuttgart manufacturer: 959 (1985), Carrera GT (2003) and 918 Spyder (2013).

At Porsche they proudly affirm that this, still prototype, is a clear commitment to the essence of the brand. A technological beacon to lay the foundations for the sports cars that will follow.

Another surprise that visitors to IAA Mobility will be able to enjoy. Among the complete range of current products, whether electric with combustion engine or hybrid, the world premiere of the ID. GTI Concept takes all the limelight.

This electric GTI shows that Volkswagen has no intention of abandoning the famous acronym, even if it is in a battery-powered sports car. Sporty and emotional, it has very compact dimensions: only 4.10 meters in length, with a 490-liter trunk.

Regarding the design, it incorporates a closed grille, with a red line below and IQ.Light matrix headlights. The attractive wheels are 20 inches, with sport skirts on the side. In addition, the two configurations presented by Volkswagen exhibit the colors diamond silver metallic and mars red, tones present in the first generation of the GTI 48 years ago.
