The Italian firm Malaguti has registered a curious evolution throughout its history. Founded no less than in 1930, it began its journey in the world of bicycles although, over time, it ended up leading to the motorcycle sector. Well, in recent years, the brand has returned to its origins, throwing itself back into the field of pedaling (although without having given up its motorcycle showcase).
Among its latest developments in the area of electric bicycles is the one named Collina FW 6.1. The first thing that stands out about this trekking alternative is the fact of combining an aluminum frame inspired by a touring bike but with a much more robust general configuration and clearly designed to also enjoy the offroad universe.
And it is that this electric proposal has a suspension worthy of a mountain bike but without actually belonging to this segment. It should be noted that its Suntour Mobie25-Air fork with 100mm travel is designed to offer a high level of comfort. The same is true of the Suntour Edge R rear shock (also with 100mm travel), which is intended to provide the cyclist with high-level comfort in any type of circumstance.
Continuing with the characteristics of the Malaguti novelty, it should be noted that it is equipped with 29-inch wheels with mountain tires, an option that is surprising to see them combined with the type of frame included in the Collina FW 6.1.
As regards the electric assistance system of the model, it relies on a Bosch Performance Line CX motor capable of offering up to 85 Nm of maximum torque. The motor is powered by a 625 Wh Bosch Powertube battery integrated into the down tube.
As for the transmission, of Shimano origin, the new Malaguti electric bike uses an SL-M4100-R lever, an M5210 derailleur and a CS-M4100 cassette. To all this we must add Clarks M2 brakes with a 180 mm front disc and a 160 mm rear disc.
Among the practical details of the new Collina FW 6.1, the presence of a rear luggage rack should be highlighted to be able to transport a backpack, additional clothing for our adventure or even a tent in case a journey of more than one day is planned. This compensates for the fact that, since it does not have a top tube, the bike cannot be fitted with triangular bags.
In short, this is a truly versatile electric bicycle that combines the advantages of different sectors to achieve great results both on and off the road.
