The black spots of Ibiza where the DGT will install radars

Road radars are essential technological devices for the control and regulation of traffic on roads and highways. They have a deterrent effect for all those drivers who travel exceeding the speed limit, reduce traffic accidents and offer a greater feeling of security for the rest of the people traveling on the road.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) is in charge of distributing the radars throughout the Spanish territory, strategically placing them in places where it is easier for dangerous incidents to occur. In Ibiza, for example, the Minister of Road Infrastructure of the Consell d'Eivissa, Mariano Juan, recently authorized the installation of three new radars in fixed conflict points.

As reported in a press release, the three devices will be located on the Santa Eulària road, at the exit towards Ibiza (EI-600, PK 12 400), another in Can Guillemó (EI-300, PK 2 500) and, finally, in Sant Francesc de Ses Salines (EI-900).

Mariano Juan pointed out that the Consell had already been asking the DGT for several years to install radars on risky stretches. Despite having implemented other measures such as better signaling for pedestrians, "it was necessary to control the speed of circulating vehicles."

After this authorization, the councilor was very satisfied, since the new radars "will make it possible to guarantee safety in these areas for both pedestrians and drivers."
