Students of the Degree in Audiovisual Media at TecnoCampus participate in the 12th edition of the FineArt Igualada photography festival, which is held from February 23 to March 17. For twenty-four days, different spaces in Igualada will show the work of photographers from around the world, as well as photography schools and amateurs. Along with the exhibition, cultural activities around photography are organized: talks, round tables, guided tours and workshops for adults and children.
Within the framework of this festival, a selection of different works by TecnoCampus students carried out between the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years will be exhibited.
TecnoCampus regularly participates in this photography festival presenting works made by students of photography subjects. Specifically, in the 2024 edition of FineArt you will be able to see a selection of works from the optional fourth-year subject Documentary Photography, taught by Cristòfol Casanovas and Maria Luna-Rassa, as well as outstanding Final Degree Projects (TFG).
In addition, for the first time and due to its quality, works by students from the second-year subject Photographic Projects, taught by teachers Virginia Espinosa and Eva Parey, are incorporated.
As Casanovas and Rassa explain, the TecnoCampus works that can be seen in Igualada stand out for the renewed views of students. This is quite evident, for example, in Documentary Photography projects, where “a link between documentary photography and personal experiences is observed,” explains Luna-Rassa, giving as an example the work of Ana Sofia Farrera on immigration, which presents portraits that reflect the environment and daily life of those who inhabit a dual situation of identity and origin.
Another of the projects presented at FineArt is the series of photographs by Delia Raya for the Documentary Photography subject of the 2021/22 academic year. They are images on the theme of freedom, the theme that has articulated the work of this course of the subject.
In addition, four final degree projects on very different photographic themes are presented.
Àlex Agüera's TFG suggests a protest immersion in the world of graffiti creation; Julia Ginjaume's revisits her childhood; and Marc Bonet's TFG puts in images the characters of the stories written by himself.
Finally, from the second year Photographic Projects subject, the work of two students is presented: Deima Darry, who wants to illustrate human interactions in the space of the street, and Carol Cadenas, who reflects on abuse.
The selection of the works that are presented at FineArt falls on the teachers themselves, who make a prior selection. In this sense, Casanovas highlights the quality of the work, especially those of the second year subject. Luna-Rassa adds that the photographs "express the authorial and social dimension" of the students.
For their part, the coordinators of the Degree in Audiovisual Media, Jorge Oter and Santos Martínez, consider that collaborating in initiatives such as FineArt Igualada is a magnificent way to bring students closer to the world of audiovisual and culture, as well as recognizing their talent. and capacity as creators.
In this sense, participation in FineArt allows university students to give visibility to their works and TecnoCampus to highlight the quality of the studies and the talent of its students, while continuing to strengthen the relationship of the degree with the territory.
