Enjoying connectivity is another of the great virtues of the Scala. Through Skoda Connect, this section is entrusted to online functions derived from a new flexible system of infotainment apps. It also has free Emergency Call and Proactive Service, as well as a high-speed LTE connection.
Another of the apps available is Trafficattion, which immediately displays an alert on the central screen when the driver encounters a hazard on the next stretch of road. The system also issues an alert when it detects the presence of vehicles parked on the road with their hazard lights on.
The complete equipment of the Ambition finish, corresponding to the unit tested by La Vanguardia, can be completed with different options such as panoramic roof, fabric/leather upholstery, driver's seat with electrical adjustment and memory function, rear side airbags, knee airbags for the driver, Park Pilot, adaptive cruise control, Full LED headlights or a Sport Chassis Control suspension. It is also possible to enjoy different types of tires, with sizes up to 18 inches.
The Scala exhibits a correct presentation in its cabin. Without being a premium category vehicle, the materials used convey good quality, including padded areas on the dashboard. It also has various spaces to place small objects, thanks to its multiple Simply Clever solutions.
The range of access to the Skoda Scala is entrusted to a 1.0 TSI gasoline block, with a maximum power of 110 CV. It is a three-cylinder in-line engine that shows an excellent balance between performance and consumption, with a firm response from low revs, until reaching the maximum power regime, at 5,000 rpm. The excellent performance of the optional seven-speed DGS automatic transmission, smooth and fast in its actions, allows you to extract maximum performance.
Its 200 Nm of maximum torque, available from 2,000 to 3,000 rpm, allow you to enjoy interesting features at all times. The Scala 1.0 TSI is capable of breaking the 200 km/h barrier and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, a satisfying record for drivers who don't need sports car performance.
In the chapter of fuel consumption, the Scala 1.0 TSI offers some very interesting records. The WLTP homologation protocols show their virtues in this section, with 4.9 liters per 100 km on average at high speed and 7.5 liters per 100 km at low speeds.
In practice, the actual fuel consumption of the Czech compact is usually between 5.5 and 6.5 liters per 100 km. Its fuel tank, with a capacity of 50 liters, ensures an excellent autonomy, over 700 km.
