Santa Susanna, Lloret, Salou and Ametlla de Mar promote a lobby of tourist municipalities

The municipalities of Santa Susanna (Maresme), Lloret de Mar (Girona), Salou (Tarragona) and l'Ametlla de Mar promote an alliance to strengthen the touristic municipalities of the Catalan coast. The mayors of these four towns, Joan Campolier (Santa Susanna), Adrià Lamelas (Lloret de Mar), Pere Granados (Salou) and Eva del Amo Galarzo (l'Ametlla de Mar) have created the Association of Touristic Municipalities Costa Catalana.

In fact, these are the municipalities that register the most overnight stays within their respective generic brands – more than 16 million – thus leading tourism on the Catalan coast among the four main tourist brands: Costa Daurada, Costa Brava, Costa Barcelona and Tierras of the Ebro.

The objective of the alliance is to bring together those coastal municipalities with a long history of tourism, that share similar characteristics, in order to promote a space for collective reflection. The aim is to promote the exchange of experiences and mutual knowledge, as well as to establish cooperation and coordination mechanisms in the face of challenges and topics of common interest.

The alliance also aims to be a bridge for collaboration with other supra-municipal administrations and the tourism sectors involved, becoming a key interlocutor and a driver of initiatives and proposals. With this new alliance, we want to develop joint strategies that respond to the common needs of the municipalities, improving the prosperity and quality of life of citizens, as well as increasing the competitiveness of the region.

In addition, it seeks to promote research and digitalization of tourist municipalities to promote innovation and more efficient management of services, aligning with the global objectives of sustainable development and measures to combat climate change. The municipalities that are part of this driving group see the alliance as an extremely beneficial initiative to defend the interests of an economic sector of great importance for Catalonia. The alliance is studying the possibility of opening the door to future accessions from other coastal municipalities that wish to join this positive and positive initiative.
