Richard Carapaz won the individual time trial test of the Ecuadorian national cycling championships this Thursday, which are held in the Andean city of Riobamba.
Carapaz, from the American Education EasyPost team, was the fastest to complete the 42.5 kilometer route of the test in the men's category, with a time of 51 minutes and 8 seconds.
Carapaz was followed by Jefferson Cepeda, from the Caja Rural Seguros RGA team (51:51), and Jonathan Caicedo, from the Mexican Petro Like (52:16). The 'Locomotora del Carchi' was thus once again the fastest cyclist as it was in the 2022 edition.
For Sunday's road test, the big favorite will once again be Carapaz, the current Olympic champion of the discipline, who aspires to retain the victory he also achieved in Riobamba last year.
