The CEO of Teixit Productiu and president of the Tourism Consortium, Carme Ponsa, considers that this new resource will be very useful for both administrations and the tourism sector. “In a region, like Maresme, where tourism has a high weight, it is important to have updated information that helps us monitor, evaluate and design specific campaigns and products to make the stay of the people who visit us more attractive.” .

According to the latest data included in the report “Foreign tourists in the Maresme”, the region can equal or exceed last year's figures. In 2022, 649,334 tourists from other countries visited us and the records until September already count 574,615 visitors.

This August, Maresme has received 131,754 foreign tourists, slightly less than those it had received in July (-0.39%; -522 people), but another 15,522 of those who visited the region in August 2022. The main countries The issuers have been France (22.8%), the United Kingdom (17.1%), the Netherlands (14.0%) and Germany (13.7%).

Santa Susanna, Calella and Malgrat de Mar are, in this order, the municipalities that have received the most foreign tourists this August and have accumulated, respectively, 21.8%, 19.2% and 16.0% of the total for the month . Specifically, 28,759 foreign tourists were registered in Santa Susanna; 25,280 in Calella and 21,096 in Malgrat de Mar.

The biggest year-on-year increases -in relative terms- have been experienced in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta (90.70%), Teià (83.54%) and Vilassar de Dalt (82.56%). In absolute terms, they were registered in Santa Susanna (5,541), Mataró (2,672) and Calella (2,336).
