Investments by public companies in Madrid quadruple those of the Valencian Community

Investment in the Valencian Community by State public companies during 2021 amounts to 239.5 million euros, 5.42% of the total. A meager figure if compared to the 866 million that the State allocated to the Community of Madrid in the same year, a figure that stands at 19.6%. Translated into investment per inhabitant, the investment of public companies per citizen of the Valencian Community is 47.1 euros, compared to the 127 euros invested in Madrid and 66 in Catalonia.

A leadership in public investment that this medium reported yesterday after analyzing the first data on the fiscal balances of the autonomous communities. The document allows us to state that the investment per inhabitant in Madrid in 2021 was 127 euros and in Catalonia it was almost half: 66 euros per citizen.

An analysis of the document that lists the investments of the public company in the different territories places the Valencian Community in sixth position, behind Madrid, and with distance, Catalonia, Andalusia, Galicia, the Basque Country and Castilla y León.

For companies, for example, Adif-AVE has invested a total of 1,089 million euros, of which 79.6 have gone to the Valencian Community, which represents 7.3%. Where it has invested the most is in the Basque Country, with a total of 174.7 million, 16.03%. In Madrid, investment is also high, a total of 96.4, 8.85% of Adif's total. However, the percentages of Catalonia are far behind, which has an investment of 22.4, 2.06% of the total. Likewise, the figures show how that year Madrid had more than 50% of the investment from the Renfe operator, 54.6% compared to the 14.1% invested in Catalonia or 5.33% in the Valencian Community.

On the other hand, Acuamed, Waters of the Mediterranean basins (responsible, among others, for the Sagunt desalination plant) has invested in the Valencian Community a total of 16.8 million, 75.97% of the total. The document also includes the investment of 1.3 million by the Valencia Intermodal and Logistics Platform company, the 700.5 million euros of the Valencia 2007 Consortium, as well as the investment of 25 million by Puertos del Estado, 6.96% of the total. The same entity invested 89.2 million in Catalonia.

The documents of the Ministry of Finance also specify the investment of the General State Administration in the autonomies, which includes, for example, expenses in the modernization of the Armed Forces, expenses in penitentiary centers and institutions or actions for comprehensive prevention. of gender violence, an item that only includes investment in Madrid (15.5 million), because the rest is not territorialized.
