Correos announced this Tuesday that it will carry out 2,500 reinforcement contracts to cover tasks in the regional and municipal elections on May 28. They will be in charge of activities related to the electoral process, such as voting by mail -both the collection and its custody until delivery-, the admission of requests -by electronic means or in person-, their transfer to the Electoral Census delegations or the delivery in hand of electoral documentation to the applicants.
To these tasks will be added other crucial ones in an election, such as the distribution of census cards, the sending of electoral propaganda, the communications to members of the polling stations, the sending of the census list to the town halls or the collection of documentation on the day of the elections.
On the other hand, there will be a reinforcement of the attention to the citizen in the network of 2,389 offices that Correos has throughout Spain. "Exclusive windows may be enabled for elections and, if the influx requires it, additional tables specifically designed to manage voting by mail will be installed in the lobby," a note explained.
In the logistics centers there will also be reinforcement, with an adaptation of the transport routes "for the remission of the documentation from the logistics center to all the distribution units depending on the needs." With all these measures, "Correos is putting all the necessary resources to guarantee the fulfillment of the commitments for the management of the postal vote", it has been affirmed.
