Consum extends its online business in Catalonia

Consum continues to expand its online store throughout Catalonia and has landed, for the first time, in large cities such as Lleida, and also in towns such as Manresa and Martorell. With this new expansion of its online purchasing service, the cooperative will reach around 234,000 potential customers, with deliveries in one-hour slots and, if the purchase is made before 12 noon in the morning, with the option of receiving in the same day, if possible.

The Valencian cooperative began its online shopping service in Barcelona at the end of 2017, and, since then, it has been expanding this service to more than 135 towns in Catalonia, mainly in the provinces of Barcelona, ​​with some 70 municipalities that have enjoyed it since The online service has been around for years, but also Girona, with more than 40 towns covered, 24 in Tarragona, and now also the city of Lleida.

In total, the Consum online store is available in 450 towns in València, Alicante, Castellón, Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Almería, Murcia, Girona and Lleida, and will continue its expansion in the coming months. In 2022, sales of the online store increased by 7.3%, reaching 65.8 million euros.

The cooperative has a total of 263 establishments in Catalonia, including its own supermarkets and Charter franchises, which represents more than 28% of Consum's commercial network and around 20% of the business. It also has several platforms in Barcelona: Merchandise Generales, in the Free Trade Zone, with 92,000 square meters, and another in Prat de Llobregat, with 13,500 square meters, recently, it has acquired a plot of 142,000 m2 in Montcada i Reixac for the future construction of another platform.

The workforce in Catalonia amounts to more than 4,200 people, close to 21% of the entire Cooperative workforce. Likewise, last year Consum made purchases worth more than 783 million euros from suppliers in Catalonia.
