All sporting events in Italy will in a month be held without the public in order to stop the spread of coronaviruses.

It informs the Italian government in a decree on Wednesday night, writes the news agency AFP and several other media outlets.

Italy is the country in Europe worst hit by the coronavirus. More than 3000 people are infected, and so far 107 have died.

Earlier on Wednesday evening announced the prime minister, Giusepe Conti, that Italy was obliged to take more effective measures in order to stop the virus from spreading.

This means that schools and universities are now closed until mid-march.
