Xie The Asian choreographer and dancer who has performed for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the Guangdong company, the Shanghai Jinxing Dance Theater or the famous Tao Dance – which left the Grec audience sighing – lands this March 15 at the Factoria Cultural de Terrassa with From IN, with which he already conquered theaters last season.

This year could not have started better for the Chinese creator, as she was invited to choreograph for none other than the Paris Opera Ballet. The result was an ultra-sensitive piece with which the French institution opened its season at the Garnier as part of a triple bill with Crystal Pite and hip-hop opera Marione Motin.

Without detracting from Horizon with those from Paris, in which Xie fluidity that comes from his pieces performed by his own company, XieXin Dance.

He founded it just a decade ago in Shanghai, before becoming a leading figure in international contemporary dance. And in a short time she has revealed herself as the hottest thing on the Chinese scene. In her work there are no edges or sharp edges, everything flows without abandoning tension, in a constant investigation of the body and emotions. In addition, the company is creating an international platform for exchange in contemporary dance, with cooperation projects with other dancers and company.

In From IN, the award-winning choreographer draws inspiration from Chinese calligraphy and the ideogram that means “human,” immersing the viewer in a space-time in which layers of memories overlap and her dancers appear and disappear like ghostly figures.

“As human beings, one of the reasons we share common memories is that we meet at the same time and in the same place. That creates a special bond without which we would only live parallel lives in different places...”, assures the author of this refined dance. Xie Xin focuses her attention on the point of contact between the two lines that make up the ideogram, the strokes that go in the opposite direction and constitute an exchange between opposites.
