Yesterday Barça suffered its second consecutive defeat, the fourth of the season. Between both –against Girona and Antwerp–, he has conceded seven goals. Furthermore, yesterday for the third time in the last three months they conceded a goal before the fifth minute of the match and with this there are already six games in which Xavi's team has started losing out of the last seven. With these numbers as context, Xavi Hernández was self-critical but was satisfied for having achieved classification.
The coach did not delve into what is wrong with his team, but he did concede that “we have to be critical of ourselves. They generate a lot for us and it is very difficult for us to do so.” Despite this, the coach surprised with a positive speech and went so far as to assure that “the defeat was not painful”, and that the one that really “affects” is the one on Sunday. That one hurt us,” he said.
“I am happy despite the bad feelings. Sometimes we have to remember where we come from. We have to be self-critical, but having said that, we are alive, we have to enjoy and think that today we are first in the group and three years ago we were not,” he surprised.
Regarding his continuity in the club, the one from Terrassa said he was “confident that the team will win starting on Saturday. They are going to value me for the results. “I have the trust of Deco and the president and nothing else.” And he was hopeful that “we have four titles at stake. We have to improve. But I am positive and excited about this season. You just have to improve the sensations.”
Even though there was nothing at stake, Xavi had a bad night on the field. For many moments he was screaming on the sideline trying to correct defensive errors. After the match, however, he set himself the goal of recovering the game. “We are in the second round, which is the first objective – he verbalized it on several occasions – but we have to recover the good game, the good football. This team has done it and I think we can recover it.” he indicated he.
Finally, he criticized that “unnecessary tension had been generated on the issue of the squad list” and repeated that it had been agreed upon with the players, the president and the sports director.
