Who is behind Wilbur, the viral acrobat of the 'Grand Prix'

The return of the Grand Prix has become one of the best premieres of the year. The legendary Spanish Television program returned to the television schedule on Monday, July 24, after eighteen years since its grand finale. And despite the many years that have passed since the summer format said goodbye to all its viewers, many of them have been asking for its return for years, and even more so after the great wave of returns that occurred after the pandemic.

For this reason, the public channel wanted to grant the wish of the thousands of followers who were crying out to enjoy this fun format for one more summer. The premiere caused a lot of expectation among the fans, and far from disappointing, the Grand Prix once again conquered the hearts of all those nostalgic viewers.

His return was a real success for the public channel, since it managed to gather more than two million viewers that night and win a spectacular 26.1% audience. But although the format has returned with the same essence that characterized it, not everything has been exactly the same as it was eighteen years ago.

Ramón García has returned to lead the format, but this time with two more companions, the streamer Cristinini and the actress Michelle Calvó. Another member of the essential team is the referee Asunción Langa, who is in charge of ensuring that each test is carried out correctly and in the established time.

But there is a member of the team who is managing to sweep social networks and who has already become one of the undisputed protagonists of the program. We are talking about the comedian Wilbur. The gymnast is in charge of demonstrating to the public and the participants the operation of each test, always with his particular comic tone.

But what many wonder is who is behind the character? Well, the answer is very easy. This is Víctor Ortiz de la Torre, a well-known fan of the contest. ''I've been a fan since I was little, I loved the Grand Prix. I have seen it with my parents and my dream is to be able to compete, but I don't have a town,'' he explained during the presentation. The comedian is a renowned gymnast, who was in competition for 16 years, and even became the Spanish champion.

But in addition to being a true professional in his facet as an athlete, Ortiz also made his first steps in the artistic world. In 2008, together with his friend José Ignacio, he put together a show called Piti y Wilbur. Later they created a company with which they released MonoAMonoB. And four years later he premiered his solo show Think of Wilbur, in which he mixed comedy and stunts. His latest project is Fuego Salvaje, a show with which he claims to ''break all possible expectations''.
