What car should I buy if I win the Christmas Lottery?

The extraordinary Christmas lottery draw has been held on December 22 since 1812 and has generated, since then, great happiness for those lucky enough to win some of its prizes. Logically, the chances of us hitting “El Gordo” are reduced, but hope and excitement remain intact for the people who buy tickets and shares.

It is necessary to remember that of what is won in the Lottery, 20% of what exceeds the exempt minimum, which is 40,000 euros, must be paid to the Treasury, so if you win a prize with an amount greater than this figure it is necessary to pay it in personal income tax.

We have collected the five main prizes and the “stones”, with their exact amount, and we propose a series of vehicles that you could afford in case you win any of them. The figure specified in parentheses is the net prize that the winner receives, once the 20% tax to the Treasury has been deducted if the prize exceeds 40,000 euros.

If we are the lucky owners of a tenth of the Christmas Gordo, the budget allows us to think big. For example, to enjoy a 100% electric grand tourer like the Audi RS e-tron GT quattro, currently available for 153,140 euros. The excitement of the lottery will last for a long time behind the wheel of this vehicle, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, thanks to its 646 HP of maximum power derived from its two electric motors.

If our preference is an SUV and we do not need the DGT Zero label, we can enjoy the exclusivity of a Lamborghini Urus S. This 5.11 m long car has a 4-liter V8 engine with a power of 666 HP. Its price starts, approximately, at 300,000 euros.

The second prize award also allows access to some of the most select vehicles on the market. An electric option for large families would be a newcomer, the EV9 GT-Line, a six or seven-seat SUV measuring 5.01 m in length equipped with two electric motors that add a maximum power of 384 HP. Its recommended price is 85,100 euros and it has an approved range of up to 505 km.

This prize can fulfill one of the dreams of off-road fans: to be one of the lucky owners of the new generation of the Toyota Land Cruiser, whose launch version is available for 85,950 euros. After more than seven decades since its launch, this model returns to its origins as a vehicle to face the harshest conditions on the most complicated terrain.

Once the 20% that the Treasury retains is deducted, the third prize in the Christmas lottery has a net amount of 48,000 euros. This figure allows you to enjoy a wide range of models, of course, also 100% electric versions such as, for example, the Opel Mokka Electric, currently available from 37,590 euros. This attractive car has an electric motor that develops a power of 100 kW (136 HP) and the driver can choose between Normal, Eco and Sport driving modes. The autonomy can reach up to 342 km.

If our choice is a compact C segment, the budget allows access to one of the best alternatives on the market, such as the Honda Civic e:HEV Full Hybrid, whose Elegance and Sport versions are below 40,000 euros paying in cash. It is an attractive, spacious, well-equipped car equipped with a hybrid powertrain that provides a total power of 184 HP.

The two fourth prizes involve receiving an amount of 20,000 euros. Of course, exempt from withholding. This money can be used to enjoy a benchmark in the B segment, the Seat Ibiza. This model is available, in the majority of its range, with prices below 20,000 euros, with gasoline engines from 95 to 150 HP.

The fourth prize also allows access to an electric vehicle such as the Dacia Spring, an urban profile vehicle equipped with a 33 kW (45 HP) engine and an estimated range of 224 km. Currently, it is available from 19,590 euros, a price that may later be below 13,000 euros once the Moves III Plan is discounted.

The eight fifth prizes in the draw distribute 6,000 euros per tenth, an interesting amount to take a look at the used market, or to get into smart mobility through, for example, an electric scooter motorcycle like the Seat Mó 50, currently available for 5,650 euros, once brand discounts and the Moves Plan are included. This vehicle reaches a speed of 45 km/h and has an interesting range of up to 172 km.

The numbers before and after El Gordo have an interesting consolation prize of 2,000 euros. In this case, we can set our goal on an electric scooter such as, for example, the Seat Mó 65, available until December 31 for a price of 599 euros, once the promotional discount has been deducted. This vehicle reaches 20 km/h and its autonomy is 65 km.
