Watch the relentless tiger spider hunt

I was able to capture these images for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos in Muntanyola, Osona region. It is a tiger spider or wasp spider, it is known by these names due to the similarity in their colors.

I was able to photograph just the moment when I captured the lobster, already preparing the thick spider web to wrap it. And when the lobster was already wrapped in the hands of the spider.

Supposedly this tiger spider was a female, as it was quite large and, in this species, the female is three times larger than the male.

The tiger spider builds a spiral web at dusk or in the dark, taking about an hour to complete.

When a prey makes its first contact in the web, the tiger spider quickly immobilizes it by enclosing it in its silk thread. The prey is then stung, injected with a paralyzing poison and a protein-dissolving enzyme.
