Vox demands "urgent and public explanations" from the PP if it wants to retain its support for the investiture

The general secretary of Vox, Ignacio Garriga, has demanded "urgent and public explanations" today in Barcelona from the PP candidate for the presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, if he wants the 33 far-right deputies of Congress to vote in favor of his investiture.

After the disagreement with the PP in the constitution of the Chamber, in which Vox was left without representation in the Table, those of Santiago Abascal await an "urgent" call from the popular leader to clarify today in a "public" way what is his position and thus be able to go to the round of consultations with the King tomorrow with a decision made.

For the far-right party, the popular have to decide if they want to form an "alternative" government to the "national destruction" of Pedro Sánchez with the support of Vox or prefer to continue in the "drift" of the "undemocratic cordon" of isolating the formation in the decision-making bodies of the institutions, because both things at the same time are incompatible.

For this reason, Garriga has insisted that before Abascal attends the appointment with Felipe VI tomorrow, Tuesday, Feijóo has to commit to "recover institutional neutrality", something that, judging by what happened last week in the election of the Table of Congress, right now offers "serious doubts."

If the PP chooses to continue entering the "opposite path" and does not recognize the force that Vox represents, a party supported by three million Spaniards, Garriga has reiterated, Feijóo will not be president. "Let him clarify what his strategy is," exclaimed the general secretary of Vox, who has pointed to a possible rapprochement of the PP to the PNV as the reason for the "exclusion" of a representative of the extreme right at the Congress Table.

After the PP has demanded today that Vox keep its word and support the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the position of the far-right formation represents a statement of force: Vox wants to know "with which party" it is speaking, although, Garriga has insisted, right now that does not mean that he is withdrawing or ratifying his support for the investiture.

Vox will make a decision in this regard only if the "public and urgent" explanations that it demands from Feijóo are produced, and it hopes that a contact will be made today between the leader of the PP and that of the far-right formation to clear up doubts. In this sense, Garriga has recalled that Vox is the "preferred partner" of the PP in several autonomies and has demanded that Feijóo "pick up the phone" and give a clear answer: either the route of the Valencian Community, Aragon or Extremadura, with "sensible and reasonable" government pacts, or the "blockade" of Murcia.

Vox has moved its usual press conference on Mondays today to analyze the political news from the headquarters on Calle Bambú in Madrid to Barcelona. In the hall of the lost steps of the Parliament, Garriga wanted to symbolically underline that the rule of law cannot "surrender" in Catalonia to the demands of the "enemies of freedom and the constitutional order", in reference to the amnesty of the events of 1-O that the pro-independence parties demand to give their support to a new investiture of Pedro Sánchez.
