The Dollby Theater in Los Angeles rolled out its red carpet this Sunday morning to host, once again, the great American film festival. After a year without a Spanish presence at the Oscars, this 96th edition has J.A Bayona, for The Snow Society, and Pablo Berger, Roboto dreams, among its nominees and in the run-up to the awards with such well-known national faces as by Elsa Pataky, Manuela Vellés and Bad Bunny.
The first gala dresses that parade down the red carpet of this edition make it clear that black is the classic that never fails for this type of event. Elegant, sober and closely linked to the night, the color has been the clear protagonist of the evening in outfits such as the Vera Wang Couture by Vanessa Hudgens - who has taken advantage of the moment to announce her already advanced pregnancy - and the fitted design by Tamara Ralph of a stunning Eva Longoria.
If anything makes clear, year after year, this red carpet is that the Oscars is not the event to carry out stylistic experiments. The eccentricities, for the Grammys. The big celebrities know this and that is also why, in this edition, the clean-cut, tight-fitting designs with impressive trains have been favorites and highly repeated.
The point of freshness and brightness has been provided as it could not be otherwise by the cast of Barbie. The performer America Ferrera, who has posed with the singer Billie Eillish, has trusted Versace, as her partner Margot Robbie already did on previous red carpets to promote the film, with a swept-back design with a sweetheart neckline and metallic pink sequins.
