Valentine's Day with my pet

I confess that it had not crossed my mind. That's why, when I received a press release this week that said: 'Pets, the great love of Spaniards on Valentine's Day', I had to read it twice. I imagined writing a heart-shaped postcard with pink glitter with a message like: “Everyone wants the perfect partner, but my dog can't be everyone's partner.” But I don't have a dog. So I opted for another phrase that I found by Googling, like the previous one: “Sometimes I would like to celebrate Valentine's Day, then I remember that I have a cat, and I forget.”

I continued to entertain myself on the internet and it turns out that there are even surveys, unlike those carried out in the United States, that assure that with a greater or lesser percentage, there are humans with pets who prefer to celebrate Valentine's Day with them rather than with a partner. I clarify in case there are doubts: before with a human partner.

That Saint Google that still does not have a date on the calendar, displays on my screen an avalanche of pages with ideas on how to spend Valentine's Day with your dog or cat companion. In this sense, it is worth denouncing certain discrimination towards cats.

Some examples beyond choosing a new toy for her collection, which would be unoriginal: giving her a spa with an ozone session ideal for regenerating her skin, hiring a specialized photographer to immortalize her most tender expressions, buying a little dress to match a sweatshirt for the human, order a healthy cake with local products in the shape of a heart and passion color, organize a romantic dinner in a dog-friendly restaurant or even spend a weekend together in a pet-friendly hotel. And for those who don't want to leave the house, and here the cats do come in, there is always the romantic session in front of the TV with a blanket and a movie chosen for the occasion, such as Always by Your Side, Hachiko or A Canine Mind, depending. whether you want to cry or laugh. After all, the least consumerist option of all.

Finally I rule out leaving my cats a postcard with my message of love under the comfortable mattress where they should sleep instead of on my bed. And it dawns on me. I haven't taught them to read yet!
