Valencia 'recycles' measures to combat the occupation of homes that the PSOE has already raised

The new government of the Valencia City Council tries to fulfill one of the proposals to which it committed itself in the electoral campaign: combat the occupation. Despite the fact that the new mayoress of cap i casal, the popular María José Catalá, has not integrated Vox into her executive (which has made this issue a workhorse throughout Spain), she has assumed the illegal occupation of homes as one of the priorities of the new legislature.

Yesterday, the Councilor for the Security Area, Jesús Carbonell, met with residents of Avenida Constitución to address the situation of building number 262, illegally occupied. In a statement, the consistory reported that this meeting belongs "to a first round of contacts with neighbors who suffer from problems of illegal occupation." In it, the same sources explain, the Valencia City Council promised to help residents who face this type of situation as much as possible.

However, it is striking that until its star project to combat this issue is launched -the mayoress has already announced that her government was going to change the regulations of the register to remove squatters-, the council has decided to promote measures transitory measures to guarantee the well-being and safety of the residents that the socialists already proposed in their day when they were part of the local government.

Thus, during the meeting with the residents of the blocks adjacent to the occupied building, Jesús Carbonell announced police reinforcement in the area to prevent possible incidents and increase security in the neighborhood. Carbonell encouraged residents to report every time an altercation occurs and promised the presence of local police officers.

In addition, since there is no court ruling endorsing the eviction of the people who currently inhabit the building, the mayor informed the residents that the Local Police had sent a letter to Sareb urging them to report the squatting so that possession of the property can be recovered. building and thus be able to evict it.

In view of this announcement, the Socialist Party reminded Catalá that the previous government, through two areas led by the Socialists, had already launched a claim against Sareb to demand that it initiate a complaint against the people who had occupied the property as well as to undertake the cleaning of the property he owned, where problems of coexistence that affected the neighborhood were originating.

"What the PP must do is stop deceiving people by presenting measures as if they were new, such as the increased police presence or the letter to Sareb, when they are initiatives that the previous government team had already taken and the only thing it had What the new government to do was to execute them," socialist sources explained.
