Two trains damaged by acts of vandalism cause delays in Tarragona

Two Cercanías trains have collided this Thursday against the concrete and brick slabs placed by vandals on the tracks in the railway section between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Calafell (Tarragona), without the passengers of either of the two trains having suffered damage.

As reported by the Renfe company, since 5:00 p.m. a group of young people is carrying out acts of vandalism on the train tracks, where they have placed concrete slabs, bricks and other obstacles on the rails.

Two trains have collided with these obstacles intentionally placed on the track, have suffered damage to the chassis and have been forced to stop their progress, although no passenger has been injured.

The young vandals have also caused damage to manholes and communication cable ducts in this section.

The Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif) has informed that delays are being recorded between Cunit and Sant Vicenç de Calders due to said acts of vandalism.

For its part, Renfe has announced on Twitter that it will report the events to the Mossos, "for material damage to two trains and delays intentionally caused to passengers."
