Two people were seriously injured in the fire of a ground floor house in Balaguer (Noguera). Firefighters sources indicated that the events occurred at 1:05 a.m. this Friday at a home on Muralla Street.
Four crews of the force traveled to the house. They have found the fire fully developed and an injured person outside. They quickly began the search and rescue of a second victim who was found with serious injuries.
The Firefighters carried out an emergency extraction and both victims were evacuated to the Moisès Broggi Hospital and the Vall d'Hebron. At 1:52 a.m. the fire was put out.
The fire has completely affected two rooms and a large part of the ground floor. The entire property has been affected by smoke.
The four Firefighters crews that participated in extinguishing the flames were two water trucks, a light command and coordination vehicle, and the ladder truck.
Sources from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) indicated that both injured people are in serious condition.
One was evacuated to the hyperbaric chamber of the Moisès Broggi Hospital due to smoke inhalation, and the other, with burns, was transferred by helicopter to Vall d'Hebron. The medical helicopter and four ground units have been activated.
Three Mossos d'Esquadra patrols and members of the Local Police also traveled to the scene.
At 03:39 this morning the Firefighters were alerted to another fire in an isolated manor house, with a ground floor and first floor, in Llambilles, in Girona. The fire affected a stove and would have burned cans and a couple of beams from a wooden floor.
The eight occupants of the home have been preventively evicted and one of them has been treated by the SEM and discharged in the same place.
Due to the fire, the ground floor and first floor were affected by smoke. About 5 square meters of slab were opened and the structure was checked with the thermal camera to rule out hot spots before the fire was extinguished shortly before 6:00 a.m.
Two crews from the Generalitat Fire Department traveled to the scene.
