Twitter blocks the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Valencia one day before the elections

The socialist candidate for Mayor of Valencia, Sandra Gómez, has denounced this Thursday the blocking of her profile on Twitter after a tweet in which she denounced the closure of the account of number two on her list for sharing the wedding photograph of her sister with another woman. A situation that occurs on the day of reflection and one day after a key vote in the city of Valencia.

The socialist leader has lamented "the impunity with which the right harasses on social networks and mounts organized attacks to block accounts." "We are not going to allow anyone to be put back into the closet from which they came out thanks to the law of President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero on social networks," she claimed.

During this campaign, Twitter has also blocked the profiles of the second vice president of the Valencian Government and Unides Podem candidate for the Generalitat, Héctor Illueca, for simply showing photos of his campaign events; and the candidate of this same formation, Pilar Lima, after her controversy with El Hormiguero.

This morning, Gómez warned that it is "the same extreme right group that managed to block Sanjuán's account" and regretted that this type of organization "acts with total impunity on social networks, promoting hatred and discrimination."

"We are being the object of a campaign of attacks by the right and the extreme right full of falsehoods and disrespect in the absence of a project and their nervousness seeing that we can win the elections in Valencia," he denounced and demanded. to the social network Twitter to modify the control systems because "it is more than evident that the current ones are serving as a refuge for organized groups that are promoting extremism and hate speech."
