Tourists stuck in Ethiopia will arrive in the afternoon after their flight to Istanbul is delayed

The tourists trapped in Ethiopia for 10 days will arrive this afternoon at around 5:45 p.m. in Barcelona, as reported by the Kananga travel agency. In principle, the forecast was that the group would arrive at El Prat airport in the morning, but due to a delay in the flight from the country's capital, Addis Ababa, to Istanbul, travelers bound for Barcelona have missed their connection.

The group is made up of 18 tourists and their guide, most of them Catalan. Travelers who must arrive in Madrid and Valencia will do so this morning, as planned. Tourists were stranded in northeastern Ethiopia following an outbreak of violence between regional militias and the army in the Amhara region.

Last Friday, an Ethiopian army helicopter rescued a group of Spaniards who had to stay in a hostel since August 2, when they were surprised by a violent revolt by the Fano guerrilla, in confrontation with the Government. After being escorted by soldiers to a military base the day before, a Russian-made Mil Mi-171 Sh aircraft airlifted the group members to the city of Bahir Dar. From there, they were evacuated to the country's capital, Addis Ababa, on Saturday.
