Vitor Roque continues to enjoy his first week in Barcelona. While waiting for him to be registered on the LaLiga website, Barcelona has already made official the number that the Brazilian will wear in the Blaugrana jersey. It is the number '19', a number that, throughout history, up to 18 other footballers have worn. The last was Kessié, who defended him last season. Just before that, Ferran Torres took him in the second part of the 21-22 season, and Kun Agüero, during the first months of that same season.
Apart from these three footballers, since the fixed number was established, Matheus (2020-21), Braithwaite (2020), Boateng (2019), Munir (2018-19), Digne (2016-17, 2017-18), Sandro (2015-16), Afellay (2013-14), Montoya (2012-13), Maxwell (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12), Messi (2005-06); since January, 2006-07, 2007-08), Navarro (2004-05), Dani (1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03), Kluivert (1998-99), Pizzi (1996 97, 1997-98) and Racing (1995-96).
Vitor Roque has never worn number 19 before. During his time in Brazil he wore numbers 9, 27 and 39 for Atlético Paranaense and Cruzeiro. At the same time, Barcelona is working to register him before the team travels to Las Palmas tomorrow to open 2024 against the team led by former Barcelona coach Garcia Pimienta.
The club, without salary margin, has not received the 40 million that the investment fund Libero Football Finance AG had to pay, corresponding to the purchase of 10% of Barça Vision so that it will register Vitor Roque through Gavi. According to the wording of article 77 of the LaLiga regulations, Barcelona can use 80% of the cost of the long-term injured player - Gavi in this case -, including an annex to Roque's contract that allows him to be registered only until June 30 . At Barça they assure that there will be no problem.
On July 1, however, Barcelona will have to repeat the registration process again for the full six-year contract. If sufficient registration capacity has not been generated by July 1, he will not be registered and will be left out of the official roster. Furthermore, article 77 makes it clear that next year the club will see its Registerable Sports Squad Cost Limit reduced by the same amount it spends now. The Brazilian footballer will probably be presented on January 5.
