The members of the Civil Guard and Customs Surveillance have resumed their tasks early this Tuesday to try to refloat the sunken narco-submarine one mile off the coast of Arousa, in front of the port of Vilaxoán (Pontevedra).

According to sources from the investigation, around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, members of the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS), the Maritime Service, a helicopter and several Civil Guard patrols, as well as other members, have moved to the area.

Likewise, the tugboat Insuíña Rande, based in the port of O Grove (the same one that participated in the operation to tow the sunken narco-submarine with several tons of cocaine on board off the Aldán estuary, in November 2019) has been mobilized. , in order to refloat the semi-submersible and thus be able to tow it to land.

This bathyscaphe was sighted, semi-sunk, on Monday morning by sailors who notified the authorities, and immediately members of the Customs Surveillance, Civil Guard, Maritime Rescue and National Police mobilized, with maritime and air means, and also with deployment in land.

The researchers are considering as their main hypothesis that this homemade device is linked to drug trafficking activity and, specifically, to the gliders that appeared stranded a few weeks ago on the Ribeira coast.

The sub-delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, indicated in the last hours that the ship would be between 15 and 16 meters in length, although it is necessary to refloat and tow it to inspect it thoroughly and find out any details about the possible crew and cargo.
