The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal group allegedly dedicated to the theft of vehicles that they approached using firearms while driving on the road. The investigation began due to two assaults that took place between Granada and Malaga and the four alleged members of this network, who were traveling through different parts of the national territory, have been arrested.

Framed in the so-called 'Boddy Bad' operation, the investigation began specifically at the end of July 2022 when in the same afternoon there were two assaults on two separate vehicles, a van and a motorhome that were traveling on the A-7 motorway. between the provinces of Malaga and Granada, as specified by the Civil Guard in a statement.

These two facts were brought to the attention of the Civil Guard Services Operations Center (COS), which deployed different patrols in the area where the crimes were committed to try to locate the perpetrators. Thanks to this device, it was possible to locate the vehicles in which the alleged members of this network were traveling.

This follow-up ended in Algarrobo (Málaga), the place where they abandoned the vehicles, and it was not possible to arrest them at that moment after fleeing the area on foot. The investigators carried out a "meticulous" visual inspection of the cars that had supposedly been used during the robberies, according to what they have indicated from the armed institute.

Thus, the inspection carried out by the agents made it possible to determine that these vehicles had previously been stolen in the provinces of Murcia and Alicante, although forged registration plates had been installed to go unnoticed by the security forces.

Inside one of these vehicles, the agents found a Kalashnikov AK-47 submachine gun, which, according to the victims' account, coincides with the one allegedly used in the robberies investigated. In addition, several hashish tablets were found in the same car.

The investigators discovered that seven other previous criminal acts had allegedly been committed, allegedly carried out by the same perpetrators in the provinces of Alicante, Murcia and Malaga, adding new clues to the investigation.

These actions allowed the identification of the four individuals who allegedly committed the assaults and, once their identities were discovered, different steps were taken to locate and subsequently arrest them, which "was not easy", they have indicated, given the lack of rootedness and the itinerant way of life that those investigated led.

Finally, the agents located these four alleged members of this criminal group in the town of Cieza (Murcia), the province in which it was learned that he was based, for which they were arrested and searched their homes, where numerous effects were found. related to the facts investigated.

The four detainees, of Moroccan and Colombian nationality, were placed at the disposal of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 1 of Torrox (Málaga) for the alleged commission of crimes against property, belonging to a criminal organization, illegal possession of weapons and trafficking of drugs.
