The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has ruled in favor of the waste collection company Smatsa in the litigation it had against the Sabadell City Council for the 2012 cleaning contract, according to the 'Diari de Sabadell' and municipal sources have confirmed to ACN.

The ruling forces the council to pay the company 3.6 million euros plus interest, about 400,000 euros more.

In the 2015-2019 mandate, the four parties that made up the government forced Smatsa to return part of the amount of the 2012 contract, investigated within the framework of the so-called Mercurio Case. The municipal government at that time accused the company of billing for services that it did not carry out.

In the judgment, titled 'Diary of Sabadell', the TSJC corroborates that there was an overbilling of the company at City Hall, but points out that it was not for services invented or not performed, but for extra services that will effectively be carried out for that the City Council the s
