The swamps await Aline's help

The Llosa del Cavall reservoir, in Solsonès, is at 20% of its capacity waiting for the rains expected for today and tomorrow. These are the last images, which we see in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, before the passage of the first big autumn storm.

It remains to be seen if, in reality, this rainy season will be able to alleviate even a little the flow of the Catalan reservoirs, which together are only at 20% of their capacity.

The new hope to combat drought has a name, Aline. This is the name of the storm that should leave the entire peninsula this Thursday with gusts of wind close to 100 kilometers per hour, heavy rain, strong waves and the first snow of autumn in the northern mountains, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

As it moves from west to east, Aline will arrive later in Catalonia, where a busy night is expected, according to weather forecasts.

The Llosa del Cavall reservoir drinks from the Cardener river, a tributary of the Llobregat. The dam is located in the municipality of Navés and the swamp also extends through Guixers and a small portion of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, between the mountains of Busa, to the east, and Capdevila, to the west.

The reservoir, whose double-circle arch dam is 122 meters high, is named after the wooded and sparsely populated area known as Llosa del Cavall.

To the west of the swamp, is the Lord's Sanctuary, which dominates the landscape, which now must live with the lack of water and its consequences. If Aline doesn't remedy it.
