The ship and the flying cranes of Barcelona

Last night I took a curious photograph that I would like to share in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia. Throughout the day the sea fog was affecting at times the coastline of Barcelona.

At one point this curious combination occurred: the huge cranes of the industrial port emerged out of the mist while the inland warehouses were vacated and a ship loomed through the clouds over the sea.

This is an image captured from the Observatori Fabra, a privileged observation point in the city of Barcelona. It is located on a buttress of the Tibidabo mountain, facing south, 415 meters above sea level.

If we look at the ship, it seems to have been transformed into a plane that flies above the clouds instead of sailing through the Mediterranean off the coast of Barcelona.

From this astronomical observatory you can not only study asteroids, comets and the stars that cross the sky, but you can also see all the meteorological phenomena that occur in Barcelona.
