The Mossos d'Esquadra are still looking for two of the three members of the gang who shot a man to death last night in Salou (Tarragonès). Another young man was taken to the hospital in a very serious condition last night but a few minutes ago his death was certified. Before midnight, the Mossos were able to arrest one of the three alleged perpetrators of the shooting, a 24-year-old French national. The case is being investigated as a rematch between rival drug-trafficking gangs.
Shock and commotion today in Salou after the terrible crime last night, in the middle of the street. The shooting took place in the area of Les Palmeres, at half past ten at night, in front of an apartment block.
Three hooded men got out of their car and opened fire with a long weapon at two other men who were inside another vehicle. No discussion took place before. The Mossos investigate a possible settling of scores between criminals.
Some bullet impacts or probably also from the ricochet of the projectiles affected three nearby cars. The clients of the apartments could hear the shots. Some witnesses speak of thirty shots.
After killing one person and leaving another mortally wounded, the three members of the gang quickly fled with their French-registered car. They were able to reach the AP-7, but finding themselves cornered, they went out to the Mèdol service area, in Tarragona. Once there they tried to flee on foot.
One of them could be arrested. The other two are in search and capture. The Mossos fear that they want to flee to France.
Sources close to the investigation have explained to La Vanguardia that it could be a revenge between rival criminal gangs. Inside the car, the Mossos found a hand grenade, two long weapons and one short.
