The rain in Miami forces the suspension of the quarterfinals between Alcaraz and Fritz

The heavy rain that fell in Miami forced the night program to be postponed to Thursday, which included the quarterfinal duel of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz against Taylor Fritz and that of the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova against the Czech Petra Kvitova. The rain continues to be the protagonist in Miami and, after delaying Tuesday's program for more than three hours, it only allowed two of the four games scheduled for this Wednesday to be played.

The Romanian Sorana Cirstea struck down the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka to return to a semifinal in the WTA 1,000 for the first time since 2010 and the Italian Jannik Sinner defeated the Finn Emil Ruusuvori with authority.

Sinner triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in a match that was interrupted for nearly two hours due to rain. However, the Italian was able to complete their match before weather conditions forced him to abandon the competition.

Sinner reached the semifinal in Miami after doing it two weeks ago in Indian Wells and will have one more day of rest compared to Alcaraz or Fritz, who must play on Thursday. The Italian has been playing tennis at the highest level and is already sure of entering the top ten in the world ranking next Monday.

Alcaraz was going to compete in the last match on Center Court, in what would be his first matchup against Taylor Fritz. The Murcian, number one in the world, reached the quarterfinals after eliminating the Argentine Facundo Bagnis, the Serbian Dusan Lajovic and Tommy Paul, in a duel in which he avenged the defeat that the American inflicted on him last summer in Montreal.

He will play this Thursday (Friday in Spain, 01:00) along with the Russian Daniil Medvedev, against Christopher Eubanks, and the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo, who will face Karen Khachanov.

In the women's draw, the American Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are already in the semifinals, while Kvitova and Alexandrova will play this Thursday for the ticket to the semifinal, in which Cirstea awaits them.
